Time For Metal / Heike L.:

So, now that your second album is released it’s time to talk about both albums and the history of Death Dealer :-).

Death Dealer / Ross The Boss:

That’s awesome thanks for having me.

Time For Metal / Heike L.:

It might have been asked already several times, but how did the members of Death Dealer came together? When I read the biography on your homepage, it sounds so easy, but was it really? And why working in yet another group? Each member is already engaged so much in the music, don’t you think „this is enough now“?

Death Dealer / Ross The Boss:

Well basically Stu met Sean and Mike when he was in LA like 3 years ago. They decided to make a band, then they contacted me thru Facebook. They said they wanted either me or KK Downing. The next day I was sent a few tunes and I said I’m in KK is probably way too busy I’m in!!!  It was as easy as that! Our goal and it will always be is to create the best metal the best songs and transfer that onto the stage. Yes we all have other projects it seems but Death Dealer will be the only band can rise like the Phoenix to become a major metal act!

Time For Metal / Heike L.:

Did Stu and Sean write all the songs on their own or did the other band members present their ideas, too? And was it the same with both albums? Already your first album War Master made an impact, but you kept the high quality also on your second album Hallowed Ground.

Death Dealer / Ross The Boss:

With Warmaster the band wrote  the songs and on Hallowed Ground I wrote personally even more tunes can’t you tell? In Death Dealer world whatever is the best that’s what gets used no matter who wrote it. We have zero egos here. High Quality will always be a trademark of Death Dealer!!

Time For Metal / Heike L.:

The covers of both albums are very detailed, and it is quite obvious, that both covers are done by the same artist. May we congratulate one of your team members on these amazing covers or was it the work of an external artist?

Death Dealer / Ross The Boss:

Yes the cover art is spectacular but one artist did not do both covers!! Mark Sasso did Warmaster and Sean found the Hallowed Ground art on the Internet!! Quite amazing eh??!!

Time For Metal / Heike L.:

Is there a one story behind the Hallowed Ground or does each song has its one story? Maybe you can do a little track-by-track-commentary? And for the almost impossible case that some of your fans only listened to War Master, what can they expect on Hallowed Ground?

Death Dealer / Ross The Boss:

Basically there is a story behind each song but I would say get a copy of Hallowed Ground and actually read & listen to the Lyrics, they are fantastic. If you only have heard Warmaster you are in for a big surprise on the development of Hallowed Ground. Sound wise it’s better, the songwriting is better I think. Musicianship especially advanced. Our new drummer Steve Bolognese who I think is the greatest drummer in metal today has absolutely amazing crushing performances.

Time For Metal / Heike L.:

You have influenced many musicians, and it’s obvious to hear what your influences are. But what do you think about the development in metal in general, with so many new styles and bands, trying to break the chains and mixing different styles to something new?

Death Dealer / Ross The Boss:

The development in metal today? There are a few bands out there that could be said are doing good work but in general I think that there’s way too many very mediocre acts out there clogging up the genre like it was with Punk awhile back. I personally can’t keep up with 15-20 new releases a week or in a month. It doesn’t matter what style or if the styles are mixed. If there aren’t great songs the whole thing is lost on me in 10 seconds.

Time For Metal / Heike L.:

You participated at the Motörhead Cruise. How was that arranged, and what experience was it, to be so close to the fans all the time? Have you ever been playing on a big ship like this, e.g. 70000 tons of Metal?

Death Dealer / Ross The Boss:

The Motörhead Motorboat Cruise?? Awesome it was. Our management with the help of our label got us aboard hahaha. But 3 words described it for me. Hot, Drunk & Insane!!  Actually it was my first cruise. I’m not very good with super hot weather or boats actually but it was fun. A whole lot it very cool folks.

Time For Metal / Heike L.:

You also did a tour through Europe. Is there any obvious difference between the fans in the different countries? Or are they all just metalheads?

Death Dealer / Ross The Boss:

Metal heads are the same everywhere on this planet. We are all family.

Time For Metal / Heike L.:

Nowadays the internet is a medium that is more or less interesting but nevertheless necessary for all artists. What is your opinion about the social networks, and do you read the reactions of your fans in Facebook or other social media?

Death Dealer / Ross The Boss:

Well if it wasn’t for the Internet Death Dealer could not exist and social networking let’s everyone know what’s happening as its happening so it’s a great thing. As far as everyone’s reactions and opinions on things well I don’t have enough time and everyone has a right to his or hers own opinions, l like any artist loves a great review but bad ones well I couldn’t care less.

Time For Metal / Heike L.:

Well that’s it. Thank you very much for your frank answers. After having written the reviews for both albums I unfortunately missed you during your European tour, but I hope to see you on stage one day. Is there anything you want to tell to your fans and the readers of Time for Metal?

Death Dealer / Ross The Boss:

Time for Metal THANK YOU VERY LARGE!!!  We hope to see everyone out there very soon. The Bossman’s orders to all are BUY HALLOWED GROUND because I know you all are very smart folks. Later!!!
