Lordi - Monsterephonic (Theaterror Vs. Demonarchy)

Today, we’re coming together to hold a little interview with the Hard Rock-Monsters from Lordi.

Time For Metal / Rene W.:

Hi Lordi,

I’m very happy that you’re taking the time to give us a little interview about your new record „Monstereophonic (Theaterror vs. Demonarchy)„. First of all, I’d like to know, how you came up with the name for your new release and which topic you’re representing with the title.

Lordi / Ms. Hella:

Hi there, it’s Hella (The Keyboardist) from Lordi answering the questions!

Names are describing the two different sides of the album, the first side Theaterror is morelike traditional Lordi, Hard Rock songs with catchy choruses. The other side Demonarchy iscomplitely differnt kind, it’s a group of songs that together will put up a story. Our first conceptual album, or actually a half of it.

Time For Metal / Rene W.:

The artwork of Monstereophonic (Theaterror vs. Demonarchy) is, as always, in the very typical style of Lordi. The concept of Lordi did not change, too. You’re holding on to your style of music since the very beginning of Lordi. Could you please tell us, if it’s hard to improve your own style, without copying yourselves?

Lordi / Ms. Hella:

It’s not hard, it’s art. Creative process of the album, music and the visual world, just comes out every time by new ideas that feels good at the moment. I will always naturally develop into something new.

Time For Metal / Rene W.:

When someone buys your new record, what should he expect? Does the record follow a specific, consistent plotline?

Lordi / Ms. Hella:

They can expect half of the album to sound like Lordi, half something they have never heard from us!

Time For Metal / Rene W.:

Your fans are loving the sing-along style of your refrains, how important are these refrains to you?

Lordi / Ms. Hella:

It is extremely important. We are performing for the crowd, so when they are singing along they most likely love it.

Time For Metal / Rene W.:

Whilst recording the album, are there any advantages for you to the fact that the line-up of the band is rather constant?

Lordi / Ms. Hella:

Of course, you know better how to work with everyone so planning the process is easier.

Time For Metal / Rene W.:

As I’ve mentioned earlier, Lordi is a complex hard rock-Project with a unique shock-style, which means that you can’t just write any song about „normal“ stuff. How do you come up with new song ideas? Are you having some kind of special sources of inspiration or do the songs or horrorstories just come to your mind as you’re doing your everyday business?

Lordi / Ms. Hella:

It’s mostly Mr. Lordi who writes all the lyrics. His sources are everywhere, yes horror movies and stories as well, bust mostly just his wild imagination that is really one of a kind.

Time For Metal / Rene W.:

Regarding all the ups and downs in your career: Would you say, that the work behind Lordi did become easier or even more grown-up since your first record?

Lordi / Ms. Hella:

Not really. Artists should never grow up.

Time For Metal / Rene W.:

To get an even better idea of your newest release, would you give us a little track-by-track info about the songs on Monstereophonic (Theaterror vs. Demonarchy), so that our readers can dive even deeper into your songs and stories?

Lordi / Ms. Hella:

Hmm… I rather not, i want tp leave space for the imagination. If we would go too deep into the songs before people hear them, it would ruin some of the uniqueness of the personal experience.

Time For Metal / Rene W.:

Your new tour, where you’ll take your new stuff to the stages across Europe, is going to start in October. What can our fans expect to see, when they’re coming to one of your concerts? Are you going to play the new stuff or will it be more of the old, well-known music?

Lordi / Ms. Hella:

They can expect five monsters on stage trying hard not to suck, haha. Some new songs will be there, as wall as something that has never been played live before.

Time For Metal / Rene W.:

Germany has always been one of the countries, where Lordi are known and loved and I think, that Germany is one of the most important countries for Lordi. Are you looking forward to be here again?

Lordi / Ms. Hella:

We loove germany back! It’s always goo to be here, we are starting tonight in Markneukirchen and feeling excited!!!

Time For Metal / Rene W.:

Since there are only a few shows in Germany, some fans will not be able to see you in 2016. So, will there be some festival-shows in 2017 or even be a specific Germany-tour?

Lordi / Ms. Hella:

Some summer festivals will be coming up in 2017 for sure, and i think germany was included!! We’ll be releasing the festival dates later.

Time For Metal / Rene W.:

Before we’re finishing the interview, there’s one more thing I’d really like to know: How does it look inside your tour bus and how do you guys spent your off-days between the shows?

Lordi / Ms. Hella:

Put 14 People in a bus to live togehter fpr 2 months. It’s messy, smelly and lots of fun! Off days are for relaxing and what ever people want to do. Usually it’s the only chance for us to the city we are in, further than just the venue.

Time For Metal / Rene W.:

Thank you guys for the interview. I’m wishing you all the best for the future! The last words to your fans and our readers belong to you!

Lordi / Ms. Hella:

Thank You!  Can´t wait to get on stage and see you all!
