Die italienische Symphonic-Power-Metal-Band Temperance taucht mit der Veröffentlichung von Death: Right Before We Die noch tiefer in ihr persönliches Tarot-Deck ein. Die zweite Single aus ihrem kommenden Album Arcani – das am 16. Oktober 2026 über Napalm Records erscheint – verarbeitet ein Erlebnis, das die Bandmitglieder gemeinsam auf Tour hatten. Während sie im estnischen Tallinn (im Rahmen der Sabaton Cruise 2024) zu Abend aßen, brach in dem Restaurant, in dem sie sich aufhielten, ein Feuer aus. Noch am selben Tag komponierte Gitarrist Marco Pastorino die Hauptmelodie für diesen emotionalen Mid-Tempo-Song, der zudem durch intensiven Gesang besticht.
Kristin Starkey kommentiert Death: Right Before We Die: „This song explores the existential threat to our mortality through the tarot card, Death. It is human nature to try to avoid this eventuality, but the ferryman always finds us. This song is about facing the inevitable ‘end’ not with despair, but by anchoring ourselves in the profound beauty of human connection and the love we share in the present moment. Ultimately, it’s a personal anthem about survival and presence. It’s a reminder to surrender to the journey, seize every single day, and remember that we have the power to define our own fate.“
