Anthrax haben gestern ihr lang erwartetes zwölftes Studioalbum Cursum Perficio über Nuclear Blast Records und Megaforce Records (Nordamerika) veröffentlicht, zusammen mit einem mitreißenden Video zum Titeltrack. Um die Veröffentlichung des Albums zu feiern, gaben sie im Anschluss an ihren Auftritt beim jährlichen Louder Than Life Festival in Louisville eine Autogrammstunde bei ihren Fans im Plattenladen Guestroom Records.
Zum Titeltrack Cursum Perficio präsentiert die Band ein neues Schwarz-Weiß-Video, das die Stimmung und die Botschaft des Songs perfekt einfängt. Regisseur Don Argott nutzte seinen dokumentarischen Stil für das Video mit narrativen Elementen. In dem Clip spielt der Schauspieler London May (Schlagzeuger und Bassist von Glenn Danzigs Band Samhain) mit.
„Cursum Perficio brought out the beast in me“, sagt London May. „I broke my finger the very first day and had to beg them to keep shooting. That was real chain [the chain he is shackled with in the video was real metal…heavy and real…not a prop chain] and real pain. I went through hell and back for Anthrax and Don Argott—and I’d happily do it all again!“
„The video for Cursum Perficio captures all of the themes I’m exploring in the lyric“, bemerkt Scott Ian „They’re epic in scope…how do you quantify your life? How do you measure oceans of time and what did you do with it? And were all the struggles worth it in the end?“
