Anthrax haben am vergangenen Freitag The Edge Of Perfection veröffentlicht, die zweite Single aus ihrem lang erwarteten zwölften Studioalbum Cursum Perficio, das am 18. September über Nuclear Blast Records und Megaforce Records (Nordamerika) erscheint. Die neue Single besticht durch klare Gitarrenechos und sanft schwingende Becken, bis ein Blastbeat die Türen aufstößt. Die Gitarren knattern wie ein Motorboot auf dem Styx und ziehen Wellen durch die Dunkelheit. In ihrem Kielwasser folgt ein wuchtiger Rhythmus der Melodie von Sänger Joey Belladonnas Lamento: „My heart breaks… I’m on the edge… I’m on the edge of perfection.“
Für das Musikvideo taten sich die mehrfach für einen Grammy® nominierten Hard-Rock-Titanen aus New York – Scott Ian (Gitarre), Charlie Benante (Schlagzeug), Frank Bello (Bass), Joey Belladonna (Gesang) und Jonathan Donais (Gitarre) – mit dem Regisseur und Oscar-Preisträger Joel Harlow (Star Trek und Alice Im Wunderland) zusammen. Gemeinsam schufen sie ein spektakuläres, filmisches Erlebnis, das den Protagonisten aus einem Traum in eine magische Nacht entführt, in der er auf das Böse der Unterwelt trifft – durchsetzt mit Live-Aufnahmen der Band. Im Clip treten unter anderem der Kampfsportler Wes Scarpias, die Schauspielerin Ashley Edner-Tancharoen, der Schauspieler Troy James, der Schauspieler und Oscar-prämierte Make-up- und Spezialeffekte-Künstler Rick Baker sowie die Schauspieler Rod Maxwell und Fedor Steer auf.
