Hello Dakkar,

Thank you for taking the time to report our Time for Metal readers about your new album A Hatred Manifesto. And of course we want to find out some more details about your solo project Narbeleth. Could you please introduce yourself and Narbeleth to our readers?

Narbeleth / Dakkar:

HAIL!!!

Narbeleth was created back in 2008. At the time I was involved in my previous band called Ancestor, but I wanted to do something with ideas that I had and were not in the vein of this band, si i decided to create a solo project where I could canalize all my inner feelings and particular visions of life and Black Metal.

Time For Metal / Rene W.:

The Scandinavian sound of Narbeleth resembles bands like Dark Funeral and Urgehal. Why do you prefer this northern European sound and what sources of inspiration would you refer to when being asked about your songs?

Narbeleth / Dakkar:

I prefer scandinavian Black Metal. I feel identified with it and is the art through which I feel confortable representing my feelings. In my songs I talk about black Metal mainly, about being a metalhead, about anti religion and darkness of spirit.

Time For Metal / Rene W.:

A Hatred Manifesto is characterized by a forceful sound, where the main elements are brisk Doublebass parts – but you are always able to integrate a grooving sound, what makes a good balance. How important is that bridge between headbang- passages and furiousness to you?

Narbeleth / Dakkar:

I think that this balance between the different secions of a song is what bring the most contrast and life to the composition. Although it is all about what do you want to transmite with the music and how do I feel when I ́m composing.

Time For Metal / Rene W.:

I already heard a lot of solo projects within the black metal scene which were really poor, but your work differs from them and I would like to compliment you on your excellent work. You recorded all of the instruments on your own – did you have to use some technical devices or did you play everything by yourself?

Narbeleth / Dakkar:

Thanks a lot for your words. Yes I recorded all by myself and I don ́t have special, and advanced equipments, as I can ́t afore that. But with the few things I have, I magane to create my music and I don ́t need much morte, because this is about attitude and feeling, and not about equipments.

Time For Metal / Rene W.:

Your label Folter Records ist he perfect partner for the music you are playing. How did the cooperation come into existence while you are extremely geographically separated? Why did you choose a European label over an American one? Which gains do you see?

Narbeleth / Dakkar:

Well, I always admired the work of Folter Records and wanted to work with a label that have this compromise with this art. I contacted Folter in order to participate in Under the Black Sun, and after I finished some pre-mix of the new songs, I sent it to them to consider a release and they liked, so here we are. For me is very important this colaboration, and working with a label with the prestige, roots and honesty of Folter Records and is very important to Narbeleth because I ́m taking now my art to a next level and I have gained more atention from underground media and metalheads into this kind of metal.

Time For Metal / Rene W.:

Cuba and Black Metal don’t seem to be a normal union. How difficult is it for you to celebrate your music? How can we imagine the black metal scene in Havanna?

Narbeleth / Dakkar:

There is not a scene, but some people involved into Black Metal art. Is difficult to play because there are not much people with the necesary attitude to play in Narbeleth. That ́s why I have played few times, and always supported by good friends that now are living abroad.

Time For Metal / Rene W.:

After the recording of A Hatred Manifesto – do you plan on taking some musicians with you on a tour in your home country or maybe even Europe? Or will Narbeleth stay an exciting studio project which we can only experience on disk?

Narbeleth / Dakkar:

Well Narbeleth will be playing next week at the mighty Under the Black Sun festival, so is an opportunity to the followers to experience a unique concert there. Maybe we will come back to Europe next year, but this time, just this concert.

Time For Metal / Rene W.:

How are the chances for you to go back to the studio and work on new songs? Thank you for taking the time to answer my questions. I would like to wish you the very best for the future. The last words are yours – please feel free to direct them at your fans and our readers!

Narbeleth / Dakkar:

As soon as I get back to Cuba I will begin to write new songs for the next album. Thanks to you for the interview and your words on Narbeleth. See you all in the woods outside Berlin! HAIL!
