Time for Metal / Hellania:
A kind hello to the band Dead To This World, who just drew some attention to itself with their new album Sacrifice. I’m glad you guys have the time to answer some questions. At first I want to congratulate you for your new CD, which actually impressed me pretty much. How is the feedback from your fans and the press in general?

Dead to this World / Iscariah
Thank you very much! We actually havent received so much feedback yet since its just been released, but the ones we have seen so far have been good. Also our closest contacts have praised it above all expectations so thats the most important for us.

Time for Metal / Hellania:
Of course I’ve listened carefully to it and I’m really interested in your opinion about my review?

Dead to this World / Iscariah:
Im not so familiar with your language that I can tell, but I can see from the score 9,5/10 that you like it so that is good enough for me. We are very appreciative of this.

Time for Metal / Hellania:
You are quiet unknown yet, although Iscariah is a well-known musician. Therefore I think our readers would be excited to get to know you a bit more.

Dead to this World / Iscariah:
Dead to this World was spawned forth in 2002 originally planned to remain a solo venture for myself, but after the demo in 2005 I decided to bring more individuals into the band. The demo was released as a 7”EP entitled Dominions of Death by Iron Pegasus Records in 2006 followed by a split 7”EP with Audiopain in 2007 through Hearse Records. By the end of 2007 we released our debut album First Strike for Spiritual Renewance on CD through Dark Essence followed by a LP & Pic Disc version through Iron Pegasus Records. After years of preparations and adjustments, we are now releasing our 2nd opus Sacrifice through Soulseller Records on MCD/MLP. Dead to this World is Iscariah – guitar/vocals, Skyggen – guitars, Thurzur – bass & M.A. Fog – drums.

Time for Metal / Hellania:
The project Dead To The World already started 2002, but your first album was released five years later. What caused that delay?

Dead to this World / Iscariah:
I basically decided at the very start that I would take my time and not rush anything. After I leftImmortal, I was tired of looking at the watch constantly. However, as stated before, the demo was done in 2005 so something was done. Also, I don’t want/like bands that form and release a CD 4 months later. You must go through the old route and demo material and build up. Setting foundations is not done overnight.

Time for Metal / Hellania:
Do you plan on giving all your attention to Dead To The World or do you have other projects to take care of?

Dead to this World / Iscariah:
For me it is my main priority for sure. I am involved with only Amok on the side, and since that is a studio-project, it will not affect anything for Dead to this World.

Time for Metal / Hellania:
Since you are musicians, who are doing other projects, too. Thurzur for example: can he manage it to record his bass-sessions or does he have to many other things to do?

Dead to this World / Iscariah:
It has not been a problem so far. If we have a set date on something related to this band, it will have full priority and other projects will have to step aside. I can not tolerate anything less than that, and they know this.

Time for Metal / Hellania:
Who is doing the songwriting for you? Are you writing as a group or do you have one mastermind, taking care of it? Which topics do you base your music on?

Dead to this Wordl / Iscariah:
Mainly up till now I have written the songs, but on this new release, Thurzur stepped up to the challenge with the song Sacrifice. We will see for the next release, but I have a feeling that the others will also contribute musically. However it is important for all bands to have one head above the others to keep the order and remain submissive to the code.

Time for Metal / Hellania:
You do music for some years now and you play black metal. What is the meaning of black metal for you? Is it a philosophy for you or just a way to deliver messages?

Dead to this World / Iscariah:
I dont think we are a Black Metal band. If I was having to categorize this I would call it ancient Death/Thrash. However it is a philosophy and not a pointless drivel of words like most other bands.

Time for Metal / Hellania:
What is your personal opinion about the black metal scene? Are you ok with the political statements or do you keep your distance?

Dead to this World / iscariah:
I think the underground is very much alive and kicking these days. There is a lot of very high quality bands around. Also within the Black Metal scene. I do not care about politics and I don’t think it belongs in Black Metal or any other types of metal for that matter.

Time for Metal / Hellania:
What are your plans for 2012? Are you already writing some new songs or will touring be your main priority?

Dead to this World / Iscariah:
We are now preparing songs for the next full-length album which will be released during 2012 through Soulseller Records. Also we are playing gigs in Italy in February and more gigs in the works for 2012. We will also record songs for a few split releases with Morbosidad and Black Flame.

Time for Metal / Hellania:
Have you already done some shows or are you just a studio-project? How about visiting your German fans? And how about some small festivals?

Dead to this World / Iscariah:
We have done about 5 shows so far and 4 of them were in Norway. We did play the United Metal Maniacs Fest in Germany a few years ago, and we would really like to come out again and play more. We are in talks with some organizers but have no final plans yet.

Time for Metal / Hellania:
Finally, is there anything, you want to tell our readers?

Dead to this World / Iscariah:
It has been a long time since the previous output, but 2012 will be a busy year for Dead to this World. You will see. Thank you very much for this interview.

Time for Metal / Hellania:
Thank you very much for the detailed interview! I wish you all the best for the future. I hope to hear from you soon and you’ll come back with an impressive album as this one!
