„Once More ‚Round the Sun“ glänzt mit all dem, wofür die Progressive-Metal-Band aus Atlanta, Georgia bekannt ist: fieberhafte Gitarrenarbeit und grandiose Orchestrierung, hypnotische Soundlandschaften und donnernde Grooves. Das Werk wurde von Nick Raskulinecz (u.a. Foo Fighters, Rush, Deftones) produziert und ist das sechste Studioalbum von Mastodon. Das letzte Album „The Hunter“ erschien 2011 und erreichte u.a. Platz 10 in den USA, Platz 20 in Deutschland und Platz 19 im UK.
