Green Lung haben mit Necropolitan Line eine neue Single samt Video veröffentlicht. Der Song ist ein Vorbote des kommenden Albums Necropolitan, das am 11. September 2026 über Nuclear Blast erscheinen soll.
Musikalisch bewegen sich Green Lung laut Ankündigung irgendwo zwischen Motörhead und Deep Purple und widmen sich in Necropolitan Line der Londoner Necropolis Railway. Auch das dazugehörige Video greift mit einer Hommage an die britische TV-Sendung Beat Club optisch tief in die Retro-Kiste.
Die Band erklärte dazu: „Is there a more fitting subject for a Green Lung song than the Necropolis Railway, a real-life train line that carried corpses and mourners across London in the late 19th Century? Mix in some inspiration from 1972’s London Underground-set shocker Death Line, a madcap neoclassical organ/guitar duel that evokes Richie Blackmore and Jon Lord at their finger blistering best, and a record Lung BPM of 180, and you have the second single from our fourth album. We can’t wait to play this one live for the first time at the Acid Bath show in Manchester on Thursday. Mind the doors!“
Das neue Album Necropolitan wurde mit Tom Dalgety aufgenommen, gemixt und produziert. Als Aufnahmeort diente Rockfield Studios. Die Band wollte ihren schweren Livesound dabei möglichst direkt und unverfälscht einfangen. Laut Mitteilung fallen die Arrangements dadurch roher und kompakter aus als zuletzt, ohne die typische Wucht von Green Lung einzubüßen.
Die Tracklist von Necropolitan umfasst neun Songs, darunter Open the Hellmouth, Dance To The Grave, Black Magick Radio und natürlich Necropolitan Line.
