Paradise Lost Gitarrist
Gregor Mackintosh vor vier Jahren die Extrem-Metal Band
Vallenfyre. Zusammen mit
Hamish Glencross (My Dying Bride) an der zweiten Gitarre,
Scoot (Doom, Extinction Of Mankind) als Bassist und
Adrian Erlandsson (At The Gates, Paradise Lost, The Haunted) an den Drums veröffentlichte die Band aus dem britischen Halifax 2011 ihre erste EP
„Desecration“ sowie das Studioalbum
„A Fragile King“.Vergangenes Jahr tourte
Mackintosh zunächst noch anlässlich des 25-jährigen Geburtstages von
Paradise Lost durch ganz Europa, ehe die Aufnahmen zum zweiten
Vallenfyre Langspieler begannen. Während
Mackintosh auf
„A Fragile King“ vor allem den Tod seines an Lungenkrebs verstobenen Vaters verarbeitete, sind die Themen auf
„Splinters“, welches am 12. Mai 2014 über
Century Media erschien, weiter gefächert:
„The debut album was definitely about the one specific thing, but this time around there’s a couple of tracks that deal with grief but more on a long-term basis as if affects you going on through life, but the rest of the songs deal with all kinds of things, like self-medicating, mental illness, intolerance in society and things like that, just anything that makes me really angry.“
Im Oktober kommt die Supergroup für fünf ausgewählte Termine nach Deutschland.
