Die berüchtigte Kultband Midnight aus Cleveland wird am 8. März ihr sechstes Album Hellish Expectations über Metal Blade Records veröffentlichen.
Die Ein-Mann-Armee Athenar hat über zwei Jahrzehnte lang unzählige Demos, Splits und EPs veröffentlicht und den Metal/Punk-Underground mit seiner eigenen, höchst süchtig machenden Art von Lust, Grime und Sleaze aufgemischt. Midnight sind dreckig, streitlustig und unverzeihlich unausstehlich und machen Musik, zu der man Schlägereien anzetteln kann. 2024 kehrt Athenar mit Hellish Expectations zurück, einer zehn Tracks umfassenden Klangattacke schwarzer Heavy Metal-Ruchlosigkeit.
„It’s a knuckle dragger with a fat cutoff,“ vervollständigt Athenar, „Pure testosterone meat. Probably the most concise and straight to the point Midnight album to date, and all written in a weekend. The album was written on pure reaction upon leaving the studio after listening to raw tracks from the previous album Let There Be Witchery. The final mix of that album was good, but at the time of laying it down in the studio, I didn’t like what I was hearing and demanded a new leviathan of an album to be written that weekend.“
Im Vorfeld der offiziellen Veröffentlichung von Hellish Expectations haben Midnight die erste Single F.O.A.L. (Fuck Off And Live) des Albums veröffentlicht, den Schlusstrack des Albums zusammen mit einem Video veröffentlicht.
Athenar verkündet, „Fuck Off And Live is an ode to the people who peacefully want to die to escape the realities of life, while they should really live and suffer.“
