Bombus - Repeat Until Death

Time For Metal / Rene W.:

Hi Bombus,

you started your band 2008 and today we found some time to find out, who you are and to talk about your new CD Repeat Until Death. Please introduce yourself!

Bombus / Feffe:

Hey! I´m Feffe from Bombus! We´re a band from Gothenburg Sweden. We have – as you mentioned – been around for a while. Released three albums, a number of singles and toured a lot in both Europe and the US.

Time For Metal / Rene W.:

Repeat Until Death is your third release. With your nine songs you break the 30-minute playtime and play a wide range of Heavy Metal. How do you work during your rehearsals to create your new songs? Are there any limits or ideas, you wouldn’t release or is anything allowed?

Bombus / Feffe:

This time around I sat down with a producer named Daniel Johansson and did a extensive preproduction. I wrote the songs as I´ve done before and Daniel came up with ideas and changes that really made the album into what it is. We don´t really write songs in the rehearsal room. I do that seperatly and then we put it together as a band. We are kind of a limitless band that don´t belong to any certain genre or style. We play Metal but within that we´re free to do whatever we want.

Time For Metal / Rene W.:

The sound of the vocals done by Feffe and Matt were some kind of unique, so I needed some time to get confident with it, but the more I listen to the songs, the more I get to like the style of the them. How important is this style of unique vocals for you? I mean, it isn’t easy to be a total fan of it at first, but the vocals are not sounding like the everyday average singing one can listen to.

Bombus / Feffe:

That´s the thing. Our voices and the way we use them together does not sound like the regular stuf fand either you like it or you don´t but it gives us a unique sound. I guess it sometimes takes a while to get used to but it´s no point in sounding like every other band anyway.

Time For Metal / Rene W.:

Even when I was listening to your second release, the lyrics got stuck deep into my brain and your chorus were great earworms without getting too repetitive. Are your timeless songs a mirror of your musical interests or just a random product, which developed over the time?

Bombus / Feffe:

Yeah I think they are. That´s just the way we approach songwriting. We write cathcy tunest hat are not limited by any genre and hopefully that makes it timeless.

Time For Metal / Rene W.:

Could you bring us and your fans Repeat Until Death a step closer with a little Track-By-Track-description?

Bombus / Feffe:

I´m not really good at describing my own music really. I belive that others are better equipped to do that. It´s hard to analyze that stuff.

Time For Metal / Rene W.:

Are there any unreleased songs, which were (nearly?) completed, but are not planned to be released?

Bombus / Feffe:

Yes there are. Some will be on our next album and some will come out sooner than that probably.

Time For Metal / Rene W.:

Your cover shows us a bar in retro-style, which is, when you take a closer look – what’s some kind of paradoxic – modern and can be seen as a metaphor for your music. How did you develope your idea for this cover and who created it?

Bombus / Feffe:

We wanted something splashy that did scream „Classic Metal Album“ to much. I thing that it suits the music that we make. Bacause that is fresh and conteporary but still has deep roots in the classic stuff. We wanted the album to have bright colours like a bubble gum wrap but still have a creepy feel to it. I like it!

Time For Metal / Rene W.:

Did you already play some gigs with your new material in your country and when will German fans get the possibility to see Bombus on a Festival or in a Club live?

Bombus / Feffe:

We will soon roll in on the Autobahn and do a few shows in Germany! We´ll start out in Frankfurt 14/5 then Hamburg, Berlin, München and Köln! Good times ahead!

Time For Metal / Rene W.:

Thank you for giving us some insights into your art and I wish you a lot of luck for the future. The last words belong to you!
