Hello,
How does it feel to be back on the road with The Duskfall?

The Duskfall / Mikael:

Hi, we are extremely pleased to be back and making music again! To play live for the fans again will be totally excellent!

Time For Metal / Dominik B.:

What changed the original plan to leave the band burried in the past?

The Duskfall / Mikael:

Music is like a river to me. If you dam up the river the water finds new ways to flow and I wanted to make the river flow in the right path again. I always have music in my head and after a while to many songs were pushing to get out so I decided to open the floodgates. Also the fans has been asking for a new CD and I feel great to finally have something to offer them in return of their patience and support!

Time For Metal / Dominik B.:

In 2007 it seemed to be that The Duskfall would be very successful because you found an experienced label with Nuclear Blast and played with bands like Slayer. Why did it all collapse and what were the reasons that led to this „disaster“? The metal scene was shocked as far as I can remember. What are the differences between the old and the new The Duskfall?

The Duskfall / Mikael:

We were able to play some excellent shows, opening up to acts like Slayer and Anthrax. Sadly we had some different views on where to go with the music and I also were going through a state of depression and was not feeling that I was mentally fit to make music at that time. We were asked by Nuclear Blast to release „the dying wonders of the world“ on Massacre Records and they buried the record in my opinion. We were sick of the whole situation so I decided to leave the band to focus on my personal life. Since I’m the founding member the band was laid to rest.

Time For Metal / Dominik B.:

The lineup is completely new, how did you come into contact with your new band members? I only know that your new singer played at Engel and your drummer appeared on The Avenger with Amon Amarth. Can we expect Magnus to sing „clean“ as he did with Engel?

The Duskfall / Mikael:

The line-up was forged by people that share my feelings towards rehearsing and creating music. Fredrik, the drummer called me up and basically told me that he liked my music and that he wanted to play music with me. We tried a rehearsal and instantly we connected and wrote music. Ronny was asked to join as the second guitarplayer and he was all-in. A great guy and awesome rythmplayer. We write similar riffs so the writing process has been smooth. Magnus from Engel was asked to join as the vocalist after we had almost all songs done. He is a great guy and an amazing vocalist. He will have free hands when it comes to the vocals. I’m sure the vocals will be both hard and melodic depending on what fits the songs.

Time For Metal / Dominik B.:

What were the inspirations for the new album? What bands are influencing the „new“ The Duskfall? Did you follow the metal scene during your years of inactivity or were you completely out of the scene?

The Duskfall / Mikael:

I’ll never stop listening to metal and good music so I have been following the scene of course. The new CD will have songs that has been bled in the rehearsals until we all were contempt with the result. There are some fast tracks with old vibes from the 90’s melodeath I spawned from as an musician but also some heavier songs with groove and melodies. Old and new fans will get their share of the cake. 🙂

Time For Metal / Dominik B.:

Can we expect to see you on tour on the big festivals in summer?

The Duskfall / Mikael:

Since the album will be released in Autumn 2014 the festival season is probably out of our reach this summer. We are ready to play live and the second we have shows confirmed we“ll post dates on our FB page.

Time For Metal / Dominik B.:

What were the reactions so far concerning the news that The Duskfall reunited and will have an album produced in 2014?

The Duskfall / Mikael:

Overwhelming! The fans seem excited and we have received alot of mails and comments from the fans; welcoming us back. I would like to thank all the supportive friends of the fallen. You guys are the reason this new CD will happen!!! Your words through the years has kept me inspired and open to a new CD and now we are here again!

Time For Metal / Dominik B.:

The last words in this interview are yours – any final message to your fans out there?

The Duskfall / Mikael:

Thanx for this interview and the interest in the band and our music! We will release the record a.s.a.p and in my opinion these are the strongest songs we have recorded to this date so don’t miss out on it! Cheers
