Comeback Kid 2014

Time For Metal / Patrick S.:
Hey Guys,
Thank you for your time and the opportunity to ask you some questions. Unfortunately it’s not possible to do an interview in personal. I’m really sorry for that.

Your new Album is titled Die Knowing. So, „Die knowing“ what?! What is the idea or the main thought behind your new album?

Comeback Kid / Andrew:
Die knowing who your real friends and family are. Die knowing that you carved your own path in life. It’s a reminder to myself to keep on the path I want to take in life.

Time For Metal / Patrick S.:
What’s the difference to your former Full-Length-Albums?

Comeback Kid / Andrew:
Every one of our albums are different I feel. With DN I wanted the production to be bigger but we also focused a lot on keep the song structures more simplistic and to the point. It’s still a hard record to play ( well ) haha. But it is a bit of a throwback record in a sense to some of the 90’s metallic hardcore we grew up on. There are still some melodic tracks but in general this is the hardest album we have done yet. Pretty excited about it.

Time For Metal / Patrick S.:
Your sound is again very rough and hard. Your guitars for example sound very similar to your last Album. Do you like the idea that you’ve just found your special sound or is it more like you’re afraid that there is not something curiously new about your sound?

Comeback Kid / Andrew:
I think the guitars sound totally different than our last record. We took a much different approach. Our last album had more of a punk rock feel where as this is more on the harder side. I really think the 2 albums sound very different when played side by side.

Time For Metal / Patrick S.:
Should Know Better starts with some – let’s say noises – like plugging in a guitar. Why would you, as a hardcore band, record something like this? Is it just for the song or more like underlining the hardcore: do it yourself-attitute?

Comeback Kid / Andrew:
We just thought it sounded cool. Not much more to it.

Comeback Kid - Die Knowing

Time For Metal / Patrick S.:
It’s often said, that hardcore is not just music, but an attitude. What has hardcore become for you? How does it feel that you have to combine your passion with your job? Is it more like a curse or a blessing?

Comeback Kid / Andrew:
Hardcore is a blessing. Hardcore is a lifestyle for me in the sense that I’ve made some of the closest bonds in my life all over the world through this scene. I feel very lucky to be able to incorporate hardcore and more importantly my true love, music with my job. It has taught me about business, community, and much more. I hope to continue to make CBK my full time gig.

Time For Metal / Patrick S.:
While you’re on tour to promoting Die Knowing: what do you miss most while touring and what will be the first thing you will do, when you’re back at home?

Comeback Kid / Andrew:
Ahhh. I just miss my girl, my friends, and my family. I miss late nights in my apartment listening to loud music. I miss sleeping in. I miss sex. First thing I usually do when I’m home is smoke a big joint. That always gets me in a good mood.

Time For Metal / Patrick S.:
After your tour, what is CBK doing next?

Comeback Kid / Andrew:
We are in Scandonavia right now. I’m on a boat to Finland. We will finish this europe tour, then hit Canada… more festivals in the summer and more tours in the new year. When you put out a record its all about playing as many places as possible. We are just getting started all over again.

Time For Metal / Patrick S.:
Is there anywhere in the world a special place or venue you want to play or any band you want to play with?

Comeback Kid / Andrew:
We played Israel and South Africa this last year and those were huge accomplishments for us. Besides S. America and Asia where we have been before, we would like to hit some more countries in Central America. And possibly more places in Asia. We have been very lucky to play in every continent except for Antarctica… maybe one day. Jeremy our guitar player really wants to go to Alaska. A lot of it would be novelty at this point because we have searched out wild places to play since we started this band. I would love to tour with Hatebreed. That is maybe one of the last bands on our „list“ that we haven’t been able to tour with.

Time For Metal / Patrick S.:
Thank’s again for your time! Enjoy the rest of your tour and with your new album!
Greetz Patrick
